About Dr. Trettin

Shanthi Trettin, M.D., M.A.

Dr. Trettin graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a Biochemistry major from Oberlin College. At the University of Pittsburgh, she received her Masters in Bioethics from the Center for Bioethics and Health Law and her Medical Degree, with a focus on women’s health, from the School of Medicine. Dr. Trettin completed her Psychiatric Internship at the University of Pennsylvania. During her Psychiatric Residency at Allegheny General Hospital, she did additional training in individual, group, and couples therapy and received the Excellence in Psychotherapy Award. Dr. Trettin is Board Certified with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. 

Dr. Trettin has numerous publications and an extensive background in research, mental health teaching, and volunteer work. Academic interests include the application of feminist theory to western medicine, LGBT inclusion, and considering mental/physical diagnoses as Venn diagrams. She has been in private practice for over 15 years and is highly respected in her community by other physicians and therapists.

Dr. Trettin grew up in Colorado (the mountain on the home screen is her most favorite!). She is a certified yoga instructor, Ironman triathlete, and Boston marathoner. She loves living in Doylestown with her husband, three daughters, and two dogs.
